Did you know that coffee is healthy for your skin? Here are the four reasons why coffee is. At the end of this article, we’ll even teach you how to make your own coffee scrub!
Coffee is a natural exfoliator
The rough texture of coffee makes it one of the best beauty scrubs out there—both for your face and body. A freshly roasted, ground coffee takes away dry and dead skin cells and prompts the rejuvenation of the skin. It’s more powerful than any other scrub, to be honest. And that’s because of the coarser grind of coffee compared to other sugar or gel scrub exfoliants. Coffee can moisturize the skin, leaving you with a soft, baby-like skin for days.
Coffee is loaded with antioxidants
We all know that caffeine is good for the body because it can renew the mind. But drinking coffee is also a great way to fight the free radicals in the environment? Coffee can boost our natural defenses which can protect our skin cell energy. In other words, coffee can help brighten the skin by protecting it from the pollution.
Coffee stimulates blood circulation
Caffeine can affect the skin in a good way by stimulating the flow of blood, which can enhance its outward appearance. If you apply a coffee scrub in a circular motion, the caffeine and the motion will help get rid of acne, cellulite, and stretch marks.
Coffee can make the skin smooth
Want your skin to glow? Drink coffee! Thanks to the tissue repairing qualities of caffeine, your skin cells will regrow and be brighter and smoother than ever before. Coffee also increased collagen which can retain the hydration in your skin. Plus, it can also improve the elasticity of your skin. Seriously, you have to drink coffee now and make your own scrub! DIY Coffee Scrub
Now it’s high time to make your homemade coffee scrub to keep that skin all fresh and smooth!
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 1/4 cup of coffee grounds
- 3/4 cup of olive oil (or carrier oil such as almond, jojoba, and macadamia nut)
- Optional: Essential oil (for scent)
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, coffee grounds, and olive oil.
- Add a teaspoon of honey.
- Stir well.
- Transfer in a secured plastic container.
This coffee scrub is good for two weeks. Use it when you take a shower. Be sure your skin isn’t dry before you apply it. Remember that coffee grounds are a bit coarse, so you have to ensure your skin is damp or wet to avoid irritation on the dry skin. When you rub it, do so gently and in a circular motion. Let it stay in your face or body for a minute or two before you thoroughly rinse it. It’s crucial to give the coffee scrub ample time to rejuvenate your skin.
